Update on Bible Study

It has been a while since I have added an update, so I thought I would write and tell you how the Bible study in Halberstadt is going. The past few times we have met the numbers have been low. Two of the families that met with us the first time have not been able to meet with us the last two times we have met. Please pray that we can encourage them to make fellowship around God’s Word a priority in their lives.

Yesterday, only the we and the Görnandts were there. Regardless we had a good time of fellowship and an encouraging time of prayer. Please pray for Halberstadt and our ministry there.

Musical Mission Team in Magdeburg

On Wednesday the Team spent the day ministering in Magdeburg.

In the morning they went down to the market to pass out invitations. Then in the afternoon they held a concert in the nursing home where we minister each month.

In the evening we were able to have the Mission Team do a concert in the church facilities for the first time since the team began coming to Magdeburg in 1995 (that was the year that we were on the mission team!). The new facilities are spacious but we still had a full house. We are thankful that many came. We were especially thankful for personal acquaintances that came. Neighbors of the McKenzies and Matthias were there as well as Vicki’s language teacher, Petra, with two of her friends.

After the concert we were able to get a few pictures of the boys with Dr. Dad (Dr. McCauley’s name that present and former mission team members use).

We are very thankful to the Lord for 2 full days of ministry in Halberstadt and Magdeburg and for those who heard the Gospel in song and in word while they were here.

Musical Mission Team in Halberstadt

On Monday afternoon (June 11) four vans full of Musical Mission Team members made thier way to Magdeburg. This team holds a special place in our hearts since both of us traveled with the team during our college years and the Lord used the team as a catalyst to lead us to Germany.

On Monday evening we enjoyed a time of relaxation and fellowship with the team before the work started on Tuesday.

Tuesday morning the team drove down to Halberstadt for the day. In the morning they held a short concert at the school where Rebecca Görnandt did her German language study. In the afternoon they sang in front of the Rathaus (town hall) and passed out invitations. That evening was the main concert. We were thankful to the Lord that 29 people that were not from the church in Magdeburg nor the Bible study attended. As they left they were given a packet with information about the Bible study, a book called “Jesus is the Way” written by a German Evangelist and a Musical Mission Team CD. We pray that the contacts that were made will bring forth future fruit.

First Night of Evangelistic Services

Tonight was the first of 4 Evangelistic services. Several were there that normally attend the church. One man that was there comes to the church on occasion but we not sure that he is a believer. There was also a lady that we had never met there that a couple from our church brought with them.

Here are a few pictures from the evening:

Gemeindetag

Today was Gemeindetag in our church. Every time a month has 5 Sundays, we stay after the service on the the 5th Sunday to eat and fellowship together. Today the weather was beautiful so after we ate we all walked down to a nearby playground to let the kids play and enjoy the sunshine. Then we came back to the church for the traditional “Kaffee und Kuchen” (Coffee and Cake) and yet more fellowship.
