Summer flowers

Just a few pictures here of some of my summer flowers.

First the mother’s day bouquet Stephen got for me.

My amaryllis bloomed in the summer this year since I had replanted it late last fall.  I bought it the first Christmas we were here and the bulb is as big as my fist and has produced several other bulbs since then.  This time the stock had 6 blooms on it!

And finally, my orchid.  Last year I had it in a bad place and the blooms fell off almost immediately.  This year it grew 2 flower stocks (not sure what they are called in English), and had I think about 26 blossoms total.  I am so proud of it as orchids are VERY popular over here and I see them in almost every apartment window.

Hannah’s first birthday

Hannah celebrated her 1st birthday on June 1o, 2010.

A present as big as she is!

Lots of help from two big brothers.

Singing “Happy Birthday.”

Tenatively digging into the cake.

“What is this sticky stuff anyway?”

Tasting the cake required a little convincing.

She decided she DOES like birthday cake.

The end result.

Music Fesitval 2010 – Part 2

One highlight during the week of music camp was that we got to visit a wild animal park near the camp.  The boys were happy that we got to take Evan Matthia along with us.

Feeding the baby goats.

Joel was afraid – even with Stephen helping!

Inside the small petting zoo section.  Micah just loved being up close, but Joel was too afraid, even of the baby animals.

Baby wild pigs.

The wild horses.

The three muskateers.

Fun on the playground after lunch.

Music Fesitval 2010 – Part 1

This year we were able to be a part of the Music Camp again (last year it was right before Hannah’s birth).  We were so encouraged to be a part of this ministry of promoting good Christian music in Germany.  I don’t have many pictures from the actual musical part of the week, but it was also a wonderful time as a family to have something different than our normal schedule.

The weather was beautiful most of the week, and we enjoyed some kite flying one afternoon.

Joel pretending to be a tiger in the grass.

The entire camp choir.

The smaller recording choir (Stephen is in the back left, singing tenor).

Our director, Michael Moore, from BJU.

After almost everyone else had gone home, but before I left with the kids, Michael let Micah listen to the orchestral accompaniment to hear what it sounded like for the director.  Micah was absolutely thrilled!

These three – Micah, Joel, & Evan Matthia – were almost inseparable the entire week.
