Joel’s 2 year old birthday

Since Joel was born during the second summer camp, it means that Stephen is gone for his birthday each summer.  So, this year we waited until he came back and celebrated this past Sunday.  Unfortunately the cake did not turn out at all like I had wanted.  There were many reasons why – the frosting was too warm, the color wasn’t as dark as I wanted, I didn’t judge the amount of frosting well, and so didn’t frost the cake as much as it needed and then ended up having leftover, and I was trying to hurry while the boys were sleeping to get it done before Stephen arrived home from camp.  At least it did taste good!

Opening a Bob the Builder tractor from Oma King.

A book in German with pictures of many different animals.

Our birthday present to Joel – a backhoe to go with the Duplos.

Joel is trying to figure out how to blow the second candle out!

Enjoying the sugar Panda from on top of the cake.

Micah helping Joel finish his cake – I am not sure who thinks it is funnier.

Sommer Sensation I

Once again, this summer, the Lord gave us the wonderful opportunity of attending the first summer camp as a family. The two weeks were full of many fun times, good fellowship, and spiritual encouragement. Stephen was the computer person and helper with game setup. I taught a short Bible class for the four smallest kids each morning while the teens had a service. The boys loved having so much wide open space to run, run, run! They also enjoyed having Evan Matthia and Danielle McKenzie there to play with (they are both in between Micah and Joel’s ages). I could include many pictures of the various camp activities, but have decided to include just a few from our family.

Our trip started and ended with an overnight bus ride from Germany to Spain. The boys loved being up high where they could look out their windows and see so many interesting things!

Our little morning Bible class.

Having fun on the playground. Joel was not afraid to go on the big slide by himself.

We spent many, many hours enjoying the small swimming pool and the warm weather.

Joel enjoyed the cherries – even though they were sour!

We decided to take the boys on the trip to Barcelona. It was a VERY long day – but they did a wonderful job. Here we were at the Gaudi park.

Evan Matthia and Micah – good friends, having a good time together.

The beautiful fountain show at night in Barcelona.

The boys loved watching and being part of filling the water balloons for the water balloon fight.
