Musical Mission Team Visit 2008

One of our yearly highlights is the Musical Mission Team’s visit every summer. Since Stephen and I both traveled on the team previously, it is a real joy now to be on the other side of things. This year they again did concerts in Magdeburg (where our church is located), and in Halberstadt (a city about 45 minutes away where we held a Bible study during the past year).

The Magdeburg concert was during our normal Wednesday evening service time. We were thankful for several new people in attendance this year.

Thursday morning they held a service in a local nursing home. There was a good turn out for the concert.

Then Thursday evening we had a concert in a rented hall in Halberstadt. The turn out was more than we had expected, including the city mayor and his family! We praise the Lord for all these wonderful opportunities for the Gospel to go forth.

We also enjoyed having Dr. Mom and Dr. Dad stay with us for the two nights while they were here. The boys were absolutely thrilled to see again in person the faces they can already recognize in a photo!

Goodbye, Miss Amber

For the last two years, our co-workers, the McKenzies, have had Amber Spence helping them with homeschooling. She was a wonderful help to the McKenzies, but also touched many other lives here in Magdeburg as well! Amber became a wonderful friend of our family, and often babysat the boys so Stephen and I could go out together ocassionally. She also helped us with the children at the Bible study in Halberstadt. I am afraid no one will ever be able to quite fill Miss Amber’s place! We love you and miss you, Amber!!!

Joel’s favorite thing was for Amber to push him in the swing whenever we would go to the McKenzie’s house.

It would be impossible to count how many hours Amber has spent reading book after book to the boys!

Many interested watchers as Amber opens gifts at her farewell party.

Amber’s cake – she is ALWAYS smiling.

We love you, Miss Amber!
