Our Visit with Oma and Opa King – 2

Here are a few more pictures with Oma and Opa. They include two special trips: one to the zoo, and another to a park. We had a wonderful time and even enjoyed some not so hot weather at the end of May.

They were fascinated with the flamingos, ducks, and other birds.

We even got to watch the elephants do some tricks.

They just loved being together in the little wagon that we rented.

Micah loved the goats this time, and Joel was afraid and wouldn’t touch them!

And then various pictures from the park.

Our Visit with Oma and Opa King – 1

Well, I am very slowly learning how to juggle keeping up with a blog along with my other wifely and motherly duties! So, even though this is a few weeks late, I wanted to post some pictures of our wonderful visit with Stephen’s parents. The first few days we were at the Musik Festival and then the rest of the time here in Magdeburg. Unfortunately, Oma was having some health problems that prevented her from enjoying the boys as much as she had hoped, but they still loved every minute of the visit. So, without much comment, I will just post pictures from around the house. At the end is also a picture of a day trip we took to Wernigerode, with us standing in front of the beautiful Rathaus. And also, a picture of the table set for my birthday, with my china and Stephen had ordered some wonderful Bienenstitch for us to enjoy.

Micah’s Birthday

We had a small birthday celebration for Micah at camp, but he had requested a “Thomas the Train” birthday cake and so we had another family celebration on Sunday afternoon. Oma had brought along all kinds of Thomas birthday decorations and a special edible picture to put on top of the cake.

Our birthday present to Micah was a new bike with training wheels – he was thrilled, but is having a hard time getting the right leg/foot motion down.

He also got to open a new Gordon train from Memaw and Pepaw while they watched on the webcam.

Joel got to enjoy some leftover frosting from Oma!

Happy Birthday Surprise!

Right in the middle of the Musik Festival, we were able to surprise Micah and Joel with a visit from Oma and Opa King. Instead of arriving on Micah’s birthday, as they had originally planned, they flew two days earlier and were able to save several hundred dollars. Needless to say, both boys were ecstatic, and the grandparents enjoyed spending lots of time with the boys while Stephen and I were busy with our various music activities. Oma brought some wonderful, new bubble blowers which kept the boys, Evan, and even some of the adults well entertained!

Micah’s birthday was on Friday, May 16, the second to last day of music camp. It was a very busy day because of all the music recording, but I had planned ahead some, and made cupcakes and icing to bring along for a small celebration. We brought a few gifts along, and of course Oma brought some special things, too. Thank you also to Amber and Rebecca for bringing him presents as well! Joel didn’t miss not getting any presents, too, he was delighted just to enjoy the frosting on the cupcake.
