Preparing for the Musical Mission Team

This week has been a busy week in many regards. We celebrated both Micah’s and Vicki’s birthdays, had our first Bible Study in Halberstadt and Stephen spent much time getting things ready for the Musical Mission Team from BJU who will be in Magdeburg and Halberstadt on June 11-13.

The team holds a special place in our hearts. We both traveled on the team in 1995. Stephen was also with them in 1996, 1999 and 2002. The team was a catalyst the Lord used to lead us to ministry here in Germany.

Pray with us that the Lord will use the team to His glory while they are with us.

The First Bible Study in Halberstadt

On Sunday, May 20, we had our first Bible Study in Halberstadt.  We are thankful to the Lord we had 10 adults and 6 children.  Rebecca and Amber watched the kids while the other 8 adults met together for an hour of songs, prayer and studying Proverbs 2.bibelkreis1.jpgbibelkreis2.jpgbibelkreis3.jpg

Micah’s Birthday (Day 3)

On May 18 we started the day with the long awaited package from Oma arriving. Micah always enjoys getting a box to open. We then got on the camera with Auntie Alicia so she could watch him open the Tigger she gave him. It jumps up and down while singing “The Most Wonderful Thing about Tiggers”. At first he was a little overwhelmed by it but now we regularly get serenaded by Tigger.

In the evening we concluded the three days of celebration. We had Dustin and Donovan McKenzie and Jesse Brüggemann over for a little party. Amber also came over to help round up the revelers.

Micah’s Birthday (Day 2)

On May 17, Micah was able to get on our web camera with his grandparents in Florida to open the Lil People’s Castle they gave him. It comes complete with a drawbridge that opens and a trumpet fanfare every time you press on the flag. Needless to say we have heard a lot of trumpets playing lately.

Micah’s Birthday (Day 1)

On May 16 our little Micah turned 2. Because of working around others schedules, a package from Oma (Stephen’s Mom) arriving late and trying to find a good time to get on the camera with Pepa (Vicki’s Dad) we had 3 days of birthday instead of 1. The first day (which was actually Micah’s birthday) we met the Brüggemanns at the zoo. Their daughter turned 6 the same day. Kay knows some people at the zoo and was able to arrange a private tour with the zoo’s director. It was very special. The kids got to see baby animals, feed the Lemurs (well actually Micah decided to eat their food instead of feeding it to them, thankfully they were only eating bananas), feed the elephants and they even let the penguins out so they could stroll around with the kids.

That evening at church Aunt Beck Beck and Uncle Christian gave Micah his first musical instrument, a recorder.  So far he has mastered one note, which he practices with great enthusiasm!

First Night of Evangelistic Services

Tonight was the first of 4 Evangelistic services. Several were there that normally attend the church. One man that was there comes to the church on occasion but we not sure that he is a believer. There was also a lady that we had never met there that a couple from our church brought with them.

Here are a few pictures from the evening:

The Fields are Yellow unto Harvest???

Raps (Pronounced: R-ah-ps) is something that I was not familiar with until I came to Germany. In English we call it Rape Seed. It is a big crop this time of year in our area. And it is one of the most beautiful crops that exists. You can drive for miles around and see field after field of solid yellow.
